19-4503. Cuttlefish Bone Casting

Course description:

Cuttlefish bone casting is an ancient sustainable technique, in which the soft layers of cuttlefish bone are carved with a design of your choice. The mold can withstand high temperatures for molten silver, holding its form and shape until the piece is removed. Each mold can be used only once, creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery! You will learn to create a design, carve the cuttlefish bone mold, casting and finishing your piece of jewellery.  

You can choose to make a pendant, a bracelet charm, or a ring. 

Location: Jewellery Studio

The Centre for Craft’s Jewellery Studio is located within our Studios Building at 1096 Marginal Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Building Description: Look for a grey building with blue trim. On the right hand side heading south, a few parking lots down from the back of the Westin hotel.

Weather-Related Closure Policy:

For weather-related closures, students will be notified of updates via email 3 hours in advance of the class start time.

If it is less than 3 hours before a class is scheduled to start, the students will be notified by email and over the phone.

Cancellation Policy:

Please review the above information and contact us as soon as possible if it is necessary to cancel or make changes.

• Cancellations with 7 or more business days notice can receive a full refund.
• Cancellations with 4-6 business days notice will only be issued a 75% refund.
• Cancellations with 1-3 business days before the first day of class will result in a 50% refund.
• No shows and cancellations less than 1 business day before will result in charges of the FULL class fee and are NOT eligible for any refund.
