Course description:
This course will teach the basics of enamelling with a focus on illustrative techniques. Enamelling is the ancient art of fusing layers of coloured glass to a metal surface, and is a great way to add colour to jewellery! It’s a wonderful technique for any jeweller to enhance their work, and a fun and accessible way for beginners to explore working with metal. This class will introduce the basic techniques of enamelling on copper, and explore several different mark making techniques for creating illustration, imagery, patterns, or text. We will cover sifting and dumping methods, including the creation of custom stamps, and then go over underglazing and overglazing techniques.
*Please note that while the studio has a large selection of enamels to choose from, you may wish to supplement your colour choices by purchasing your own. Small sample bags are available locally for about $3-6 each.*
