Course description:
Come learn to embroider! Meant for beginners or those with some experience, and those who have tried to learn and want to try again. Students will learn embroidery fundamentals, from material choices to starting a design. They’ll learn basic embroidery stitches and to demonstrate their new skills, students will create a stitch sampler wall hanging of their own design.
Location: Multipurpose Studio
The Centre for Craft’s Multipurpose Studio is located in the same building as the Mary E. Black Gallery at 1061 Marginal Road, Suite #140, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Additional location Description: We are located in the Halifax Seaport between Pier 21 and the NEW Farmer’s Market. There is a train car in front of our main entrance.
Weather-Related Closure Policy:
For weather-related closures, students will be notified of updates via email 3 hours in advance of the class start time.
If it is less than 3 hours before a class is scheduled to start, the students will be notified by email and over the phone.
Cancellation Policy:
Please review the above information and contact us as soon as possible if it is necessary to cancel or make changes.
- Cancellations with 7 or more business days notice can receive a full refund.
- Cancellations with 4-6 business days notice will only be issued a 75% refund.
- Cancellations with 1-3 business days before the first day of class will result in a 50% refund.
- No shows and cancellations less than 1 business day before will result in charges of the FULL class fee and are NOT eligible for any refund.

Kelsey Borden
Kelsey Borden (she/her) is an artist, maker, and self-described textile nerd. She was born and raised in Halifax/Kjipuktuk, surrounded by crafty women and dabbling in anything creative she could get her hands on. She went on to attend NSCAD University, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Textiles/Fashion. Her work often combines her love of illustration with textiles, working with narratives around craft, family, and personal thoughts.
