Course description:
In this workshop, we will examine models of limp vellum bindings and then recreate two specific examples of 16th Century ledgers. We will begin by recreating the ledgers using real parchment and antique parchment documents, with an emphasis on historical accuracy. Then we will make each of them using the more modern tools and materials available to us, experimenting with the historical techniques to create fresh and practical variations.
