This course will guide students through the basic jewellery fabrication techniques with an element of design. Students will be introduced to the tools of the trade, safety, and resources for design and inspiration. Students should bring a notebook that also has space for doodles, designs, and ideas, as well as notes from the class. Some of the techniques that will be covered are piercing (cutting metal), soldering, drilling, filing, polishing, and a variety of textures that can be applied to enhance your piece. Students will complete a silver ring while keeping in mind the possibility of adding a gemstone or other material that can be set in the ring. Given time and ability, we can move onto design a pendant.
