Students will expand their knowledge and learn new techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel and hand-building. We will concentrate on ways clay can be manipulated and altered to create different forms of expression. While continuing to work on core skills, students will also tackle a project of their own. Students must have at least 2 intro-level classes under their belt and a firm grasp of throwing on the wheel.
Kaas (Kaashif) Ghanie was born in London Ontario in 1989. He received his Bachelors of Fine Art in Ceramics, at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University as well as Minor in Art History. Originally his practice was working in interdisciplinary methods, in the realm of sculpture and drawing, it was not until NSCAD Ceramics where he was introduced to clay. Highly intrigued by the ceramic process and making Ghanie was hooked into wheel throwing large vessels.
